THE MICDS ENGLISH DEPARTMENT POLICY

"Plagiarism is the presentation, whether deliberate or accidental, directly or in paraphrase, of another person's ideas or creations as one's own.  Plagiarism is intellectual theft, and is therefore strictly forbidden in this and every other academic institution.  Careful citation of outside source material is mandatory.  While the English department encourages students to study together and discuss their reading and thinking, in no case is copying or paraphrasing another student's work acceptable."

Students at MICDS are expected to adhere to the MLA format in citing the work of others. This link will lead you to (one of the many) MLA guidelines: http://www.liu.edu/CWIS/CWP/library/workshop/citmla.htm

Instances of work not properly cited or that otherwise appear to be plagiarized will be adjudicated by the Honor Council.
